On this exquisite plate, a goddess holding a staff is depicted wearing Greek iconic chiton garment, a sleeved, ankle-length long dress with rich draperies. A soft belt, known as zoster, is conventionally fastened across the waist, elegantly dividing the dress into upper and lower parts as per wearer’s body’s curve. The wine-hued fabric I wear outside, is defined as a himation, which is a cloth that was fashioned to wear over a chiton dress in ancient Greece. In my time, both chiton garment and himation are designed to be worn by both men and women. However, men would some times wearing himation on its own, exposing half of their torso, demonstrating their strong masculine physiques. the classic worlds inherited the cultic feature of phiale from its ancient Near Eastern originality, and we perceiving it as an libation offering vessel, used in only ritual and sacrificing occasions.
